THIS FUND IS NOW CLOSED. ALL FUNDS HAVE BEEN ALLOCATED THIS YEAR TO GUJARITI COMMUNITY CENTRE, GROW BRADFORD NEW ROOT PROJECT, LIDGET GREEN COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIP, ST JOHNS CHURCH RED LETTER PROJECT, ANAND MILLAN CENTRE(WELLBEING PROJECT), GREAT HORTON CRICKET CLUB, PATANJALI YOGA PROJECT, LIDGET GREEN WALKING GROUP AND SOUTH BRADFORD COMMUNITY NETWORK. OVER £11,309 HAS BEEN ALLOCATED. All funds had to be allocated before September 2014 and the panel have now done this. We would like to thank all panel members for their contribution and time and staff at Community Development Foundation.
In 2011, Community First Great Horton Ward secured £ 30,000 over 4 years on a matched contribution basis from the National Community First Programme. Community First is described as a drive to boost local social action within the Government’s Big Society agenda. Each grant award will have a minimum of £250 and a maximum of £1500 within any one year to the same applicant.
A funding panel of local residents meets on a regular basis to assess funding applications.Their reccomendations are then sent to the community development foundation, http://www.cdf.org.uk/ who then administer the distribution of funds.
Applications to the 12/13 are open from 1 June 2012 to 31 March 13 and will be considered at each panel meeting thereafter. Applications for 13/14 will begin April 2013.
Community First Great Horton Ward will work in close partnership with the local communities, voluntary organisations, statutory agencies to help develop and deliver wide ranging community programmes that bring social, economic and environmental benefits to local people.
Priorities for the Great Horton Community First are:
1)Improve the health and well being of all ward residents.
2)Bring different communities within the ward together.
3)Develop Inter-generational projects in the ward.
4)Increase avenues for employment opportunities
5)Improve people’s awareness and pride in the built environment.
